ABOUT US
I have spent my entire adult life working with Animals. I attended the University of Wyoming where I majored in Biology and Zoology. After College I went to work as a Zookeeper at Riverside Zoo in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Probably the finest small Zoo in the country. My Passion was training dogs. I then spent four years as Assistant Trainer and Kennel Manager for Jerry Patopea at Utopia Retriever Kennel in Junction City, Oregon.
​INTREPID RETRIEVER TRAINING HISTORY
My time at the University of Wyoming helped to mold my understanding of how animals process information. Studying animal behavior gave me a head start on my training career. Learning what influences triggered certain behaviors, has definitely helped me as a Retriever trainer.
I spent five years working as a Zookeeper. I gained further understanding how diet, enrichment, interaction, and behavior helped to maintain a healthy and happy animal. This knowledge has served me well in maintaning healthy dogs which are in my care.
The years I spent working for Jerry Patopea, helped me to develop my craft as a dog trainer. Learning from one of the best I am forever grateful. Developing understanding of when to correct and why is foremost in the development of a Working Retriever.
In February of 1998, Intrepid Retrievers opened for Business. For the past fifteen years I have been able to follow my dreams and have been blessed to work with so many talented dogs and wonderful Clients. To all my Clients past, present, and future.....Thank You!
